The Houston rockets: a team to watch.

Image
The Houston Rockets have been in a rebuilding phase in recent years, but they have been steadily accumulating young talent and draft assets to position themselves for a bright future. When we discuss the ceiling of this Rockets team, we are considering their potential for success in the coming years. Here are some factors that contribute to the Rockets' high ceiling: Talent and Youth: The Rockets have drafted several promising young players, including Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and KJ Martin, to name a few. Jalen Green, in particular, has displayed immense scoring potential and athleticism. With the right development, these young talents could become the core of a competitive team. Cap Space and Flexibility: The Rockets have managed their salary cap effectively, which has provided them with substantial cap space for future free-agency periods. This flexibility allows them to pursue star players or complement their young core with experienced talent. Draft Assets: Houston has...

NBA Preseason 22-23 Part 1: Chet, Wembanyama and other key players.

Image
The 2023 NBA preseason is well underway and already we've seen some interesting matchups and performances. Starting off, we saw a pair of showcase games between the Timberwolves and the Mavs in Abu Dhabi. For the Timberwolves, there were promising signs that KAT might carry over his form and offensive dominance from the World Cup. Furthermore, although it was a small sample size and only pre-season the Wolves seem to have improved on chemistry from last year which could push them into a more competitive position in the east this season. As for the Mavericks pre-season so far, one ward comes to mind. concerning.  although Luka still looks like Luka we haven't seen much of Kyrie yet, the problems they had last year, notably rim defense and rebounding, still seem to be big issues. Despite the drafting of Derrick Lively III he only managed to get field goals and 9 combined rebounds in the 30 minutes he played so far. Although he is still a rookie Jaden Hardy seems like a promisi...

Scoot Vs Wembanyama: What to expect.

Image
Despite the two players being very different, it was inevitable that two highly anticipated prospects would be compared. In terms of physical specifications, they are both interesting. Scoot Henderson currently measures at 6'2 and around 90kg making him an absolute wrecking ball, therefore it's easy to see where the comparisons to Westbrook come from. Wembanyama measures at around 7 foot 4 (although this is disputed by some) with an 8-foot wing span, making him a once-in-a-lifetime sort of prospect. T his combined with his Guard-like skill set and his ability to shoot the ball at a high volume and high percentage with his time at mets-92 in the French league makes him absolutely unique. What originally led to the hype around Wemby was his shot-blocking average of over 5 a game in the under-19 World Cup. And while now it is his unique offensive skills that have courted the eye of NBA fans it is still his shot-blocking that draws him out as a generational talent  As soon as he...

Will Anthony Edwards be a top 5 player this year?

Image
Anthony Edwards has been a fan and analyst favorite for a while now. But is it time for him to take the next step? The answer is Yes. And I think the 2022/2023 season was the first season we saw this as a very real and imminent possibility. Previously we had seen flashes of ant men shooting and defending he had previously utilized the fact that he was a 6'4 225 pound athlete as his main means of scoring.  This season however the reigns of the Timberwolves franchise were taken from KAT, who had long since been the only hope in Minnesota, as he averaged 24.6, 4.5 assists, and 5.8 rebounds with almost a block a night and 1.5 steals (which will be talked more about later) In terms of just offensive output, Ant-Man has shown consistent growth all throughout his career coming off a World Cup that brought him under the spotlight and where he was one of the only players who made America proud. There is no reason this won't happen again this year. Furthermore, the stats don't say e...

2023 NBA Offseason Overview Part 2: Jrue Holiday and Ayton's future

Image
2023 NBA Offseason Overview Part 2: Jrue Holiday and Ayton's future  Deandre Ayton has been under scrutiny since he entered the league as the first pick in 2018 ahead of names such as Luka Doncic. Some of this is valid, as in the post season ayton averages just over 13 points down 4% on field goal percent.  Although some of this may be his fault, expecially playing with a world class passer like chris paul, aytons play style in college as a throwback dominant big man means he requires the ball in his hands to create shots for himself when during his time with the suns it was openly known the coaching wanted him to play a more modern off the ball rebounding big man. I expect that in portland were he isnt the 4th option he has the oppertunity to reach the pottenial he was projected, being the 1st pick. I would hope to see his usage percent jump from around 20 percent to just bellow 30. As a side note this is a good trade from both sides, as Nurkic is less ball domina...

2023 NBA Offseason Overview Part 1: The dame saga

Image
2023 NBA Offseason Overview Part 1: The dame saga The 22-23 NBA season was filled with drama, unexpected heroes, and, for some teams, disappointment. This meant that for some teams and players, it was time for new beginnings.  The first thing that comes to anyone's mind when thinking of this offseason is Dame leaving for the Bucks.   Now although this wasn't exactly a surprise, as Portland's postseason and regular-season failures are long documented with only one finals appearance in 18-19 which led to them being swept by a generational Warriors team. The straw that broke the camel's back was Portland's decision not to trade the third overall pick but instead to start the process of a rebuild by drafting  G-league ignites Scoot Henderson. An explosive 6'2 point guard. Whether you prefer Dame as a veteran potential Hall of Famer or the possibilities that come with scoots upside, there is very little doubt that it was the right time for Portland to start the reb...
